How we want to record

Okay guys, i am open to multiple versions of recording, when I originally envisioned this, i thought we would be reading all the charaters and voices from our own point of view. It looks like so e of you thought we would be recording every line from our character, which I would be open to, I would just make it so people would still be in charge of editing their own point of view parts so I wouldnt have crazy ammounts of editing to do.

So how do we want to record this? If we did do all our character's lines even from other parts, we would need to distribute other charaters who don't have their own individual sections.

So thoughts?

In theory, for consistency/ease of understanding who is speaking I kind of like everyone doing all of their lines in everyone's parts. I guess this would be my preference style wise, but I'm really totally fine with whatever is decided. I definitely agree that it would be A LOT more work for everyone to do it this way.

A possible negative to consider for this method is that we probably won't all have quite the same sound to our recordings due to recording in different places with different ambient noise and equipment and such....any differences will probably be much more noticeable if we are editing different sounding lines together versus whole sections being slightly different. I'm sure this is correctable in editing, but could also be more work.

Really, as long as there are enough cues in the story to keep straight who's speaking I don't think people will have trouble following even with different readers doing the voices in their own sections.

I agree - everyone doing their character's dialogue in everyone else's parts would make for some difficulty due to different recording equipment and such. The abrupt switch can be pretty jarring for some people, and it's thrown me right out of podfics in the past.

(Edited because my cat stepped on my keyboard before I could finish typing.)

I agree. Everyone's equipment and recording space is different, and as a listener I would be jarred by the change if it was just for one line of dialogue. That being said, I'd be happy to do Tony's lines in other pov sections should the group decide to do that instead. :D
